Deirdre's hope to reconstitute the Covington's doesn't go as planned.
Samuel and Aaliyah commiserate. 
Martha and SJ spend the day with Murray.

Oh boy, Samuel is on to Murray picking up on how Murray is interacting and looking at Martha. I thought it was sweet that Murray taught SJ to play - it would make Martha warm towards him since she is also in the music industry. But Murray is a snake - taking the call and gloating to Samuel that he is with Martha and their son - and then deleting the call log. When Martha finds out, she will be furious, but I suspect Samuel will not tell her about the phone call for some time and this will escalate.

This truly is the dinner party from hell as there are many conflicts within the family. You have Daniel and Courtney tension because she took over leading the company; you have Tommy/Jordan vs. Daniel; you have Shauna/Max vs. Daniel, and the fact that she's keeping her affair a secret; you have Emma/Jacques vs. Deirdre ... whoever thought that this was a good idea is on something WACK lol. The two big reveals were that Max is walking again and that Emma & Jacques have married. I can't wait to see Deirdre's full reaction to the wedding, considering she thought she had gotten rid of Jacques for good this time.

Samuel has always been the person who can easily pick up on things, so his sense that Murray wants more to do with Martha than an ex wanting to co-parent their child makes sense. We won't have to wait for a development on the call log front, but the more pressing part of the story is how the characters are affected by it long-term.

An event with the Covington's is never dull, as you said, and many factors are at play within the family too.
