Good episode! It's nice that we've pivoted from the Covington-centric stuff (in an organic way) to spread the wealth of drama around the canvas more. Of course, we still have Tanner and Presley in this episode, having an awkward moment with Thora, but that's the kind of thing that's great to depict when you have characters sharing living spaces. And it's nice to see Thora looking ahead in life. She's had a lot of growth since she and Ernest took more of a central role.
I'm glad that Steven was able to get through to Martha a bit. He gave her some great advice, and it's important that he comes from a related (but not identical) situation, so he has a perspective that's useful for her to hear. I also completely get her reservations! Murray *is* a total stranger to SJ, who is too young to really understand any of this besides that he "doesn't have a daddy." I'm curious to see how this all goes. If it goes poorly, Martha might feel validated in her initial feelings, and if it goes well, she might feel a certain jealousy about Murray being the "shiny new thing" to SJ. So it's a very fraught situation.
I really like how Louise is standing her ground with Sean. She's not being unkind, but she's being firm and putting herself first, which ultimately is best for her and best for whatever relationship they'll have going forward. Tricia and Jolene have such a contentious and complicated relationship, but it says a lot that Tricia keeps coming back to wanting to protect Jolene, and Jolene is weirdly having the same attitude regarding her daughter, and yet... they can't get on the same page.
