Good episode featuring some unexpected or lesser-seen interactions!
The more you show of Jordan's life, the more I feel sympathy for her. She comes off so brash and brittle, but in reality, she's a girl wounded by her family's deep trauma and their inelegant (but very human) handling of it all. Seeing her mother's fixation on the late EJ explains so much, as does the dynamic between Ernest and Thora. And Thora's dismissiveness of Jordan's "freshman 15" and eating issues makes it clear why Jordan doesn't feel she can open up to them. And it makes sense that Tommy is struggling to come clean with Tanner, although he knows that he has to. It isn't noble, but it's very relatable.
I also didn't expect Courtney's resentment of Max's new position, but it made complete sense as you unfurled what's going on with her. I like that she's bitter about Max getting this post and Daniel's treatment of them but not really toward her brother himself. It's complex and very real! And it's beyond time Martha gets back to singing. I'm eager to see her come into her own a bit more, though she has done so as a mother. But she had so many ambitions she left by the wayside when she committed to having SJ.
