I really enjoyed the idea of getting everyone together at the farm for this dinner. It was a very tense gathering with so many different little interactions to play. You even got to pick up the Max/Shauna thread there, which was a great touch. And playing out the very real tension of how the dinner would go -- and things like Courtney's relief when Max started talking about his travels -- felt quite realistic. Those sort of emotions and beats are needed to ground the soapy content.
It only stood to reason that Lorraine would show up when she did, but the way it played out was really fun. Sort of a little mystery as these two people appear and it dawns on us (and the dinner guests) who they are. I'm very interested to see the fallout next episode. I can't even blame Courtney for feeling stupid or getting mad at Steven. He should have told her a long time ago, especially once the cards were on the table about her family. He has an ex-wife and a kid, not a rap sheet for murder!
Oh, and I'm glad that Martha showed some humanity in keeping things quiet for her nieces' sake. It's one thing to lord embarrassing/private info over her sister (and I'm sure she will), but she doesn't seem like the type who would callously hurt others just to get a kick.

Thanks again for reading and Episode 18 comes out next week.

Whoa, the reveal at the end made the dinner party very worth while! I had a feeling Lorraine was going to show up, but it still packed a great punch. I do feel bad for Courtney to be embarrassed this way in front of her family and Steven's family. How will this play out now? I love how soapy this felt.
The dynamic between Louise & Martha is really interesting too. I hope we can continue to see their relationship explored as they are clearly different people, and they have different roles in their family. Louise as the "perfect" daughter and Martha more the rebel, but they are, probably, more a like than what meets the eye.
Great read, Bre! Dallas
